January 24th

Breakfast
*Orange
Mid-Day
*2 glasses of Pepsi (not diet)
Church
*cup of coffee
After Church
*The rest of the Pepsi
8pm
*Ramen
*2 Boca burgers
*glass of diet soda
*another glass of diet soda

I think all the pizza and the cake was a bad idea because I have had a rather upset stomach since I the birthday party. It’s the kind of upset stomach that rumbles and rumbles really loud. I ate an orange hoping that the citric acid might help with the digestion. Plus I needed to eat something and that sounded pretty good.

The Pepsi… it just sounded really good and I’m trying to get it out of the house. There was only about half of a two liter left. I am aware that you really shouldn’t even have two glasses of soda in a day let alone almost half a two liter.

I also realized I didn’t really eat anything today. I was not that horribly hungry today. I believe it’s because of the pizza yesterday and how it made my stomach feel today but I’m not really sure. I do know that BBQ Pork from the Chinese restaurant down the road sounded very good off and on today and that every time I see the Hot Pockets in the freezer I want to break open the plastic wrapping, pop them in the microwave, and eat them. Sadly, they’re full of stuff I’m trying to avoid including meat; GRR.

I weighed myself soon after I got home from church. 255.2 pounds is where I’m at right now. So, basically, I’ve lost one pound this week. I’m happy-ish. This week I need to start an exercise routine. I have a 30 minuet yoga DVD I bought from the Dollar Tree I haven’t opened and then there is also Wii Sports on the Wii that I can play; I know that the boxing gets your arms burning. Also, I do have to get my butt up and down Gaarde that two times in 45 minuets like I said in that goal I made. I just have to make myself turn that dread I feel towards getting up into excitement. How am I going to do that? I really don’t know yet. I know that I have the iPod to listen to and that gives me something to move to but I need something to do so my mind gets taken off the fact that I’m making myself hurt. Suggestions are welcomed.

I finally got hungry and decided to eat something. I had my now signature Ramen Boca. It was a little hot on my tongue so I used that as an excuse to have more soda.

Tomorrow, my plan is to spend all day at the library so I can fill out online applications. My list: McDonald’s, Fred Myer, Shari’s, Starbucks, Regal, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Container Store, Sephora, Taco Bell, Costco, Hollywood Video, and all the other places I e-mailed to myself that I found on Craig’s List. I really do wish I was able to get on the internet from home. I also need to remember to see if there are such things as walking groups in my area.

By the way- I ended up watching "Phantom Of the Opera" instead of "Camp Rock".

January 23rd

Breakfast
*1 cup of oatmeal w/ cinnamon
*apple
*can of diet soda
Mid-Day
*2 cans of diet soda
*Boca Burger
Dinner
*3 small pieces of pizza- 1 cheese 2 vegetarian
*1/4 glass of diet soda
*15 chips;8 with Guacamole

Oatmeal is nasty! Seriously, I was probably making it wrong (it clung to the spoon when I turned it upside down) but it was still nasty even with the cinnamon. Raisin Oatmeal cookies are a yes; morning oatmeal is a hell no.

I watched the US Figure Skating Championships Woman’s Short Program today. I really like Rachael Flatt! She seems like the kind of overachiever that you want to hang out with and not the kind that gets on your nerves. I hope she goes far because I think the less safe she gets with her skating the more interesting she’ll be to watch. She connects with the audience really well and her footwork is entertaining to watch; she doesn’t look like she’s having a seizure.

Mirai Nasgasu was…OUT OF SIGHT! Absolutely brilliant! She’s only 16? DAMN! Watch out Krisi Yamaguchi! She mentioned checking her levels ...is she diabetic?

Hey camera guys! If a young girl is crying because she is disappointed get out of her face and don’t do a close-up on the tears. Jerks.

My mom has developed a cough. I will now take this time to remind you that proper hygiene is essential when one has a cough or runny nose. Please, don’t only cover your cough but cover it with the inside of your elbow so you don’t spread your germs and then if you do happen to cough or wipe your nose in your hand go wash up! Soap and hot water and sing “Happy Birthday” to yourself 2 times at regular speed, if you can manage it, so you protect those around you. I wonder if it’d be rude to give her some cough drops?

I really miss Rainier Roaster. I would usually talk to them about this stuff and feel like I’m talking to a brick wall. Here I pretty much am talking to a brick wall. I wonder what would happen if I actually went and talked to an actual brick wall? Would I get an uncomfortable jacket and some wall remodeling? Bouncy time!

I took my mom a diet soda and some cough drops. She seemed appreciative.

I saw an infomercial for a program called “Food Lovers Fat Loss System” today. It looked really interesting. It was basically saying you can eat all your favorite foods and lose weight; all you have to do is learn how to eat them effectively so that they speed up your metabolism. What peaked my interest is that not only did it include recipes but also a guide for eating out that basically gave direction on how to order entrees so you can stay on track with speeding up your metabolism while still enjoying yourself and company. If I had money…

Plan of action before birthday party: eat a Boca Burger and drink a soda before dad picks me up so I’m hopefully not tempted to over eat while there.

*<>*<>*<>*

For it being a birthday party and having the high potential for over eating I do believe I did very well. When I say the slices of pizza were small I do mean that they were small. They were about 1/3 the size of a normal slice. The chips were regular Lay’s chips and the guacamole was a home recipe.

Kory was not there. However that ended up being neither a good thing nor a bad thing because I spent most of the time on the computer looking for employment opportunities. I came across one I’d like to share with all the talented people of Portland: America’s Got Talent is going to be in Portland Febuary 27th thru March 1st. I do believe they said that they’ll be at Portland Community College. Don’t quote me on that though; I found it on Craigslist.

After I rejoined the living in the living room I was bombarded with hyper kids attacking me with both pillows and farts on the lap throughout the rest of the night. Ah, how I love family events! You get more abuse the older you are from the younger kids and when you happen to be the only older one there your skin had better be as smooth as a beach boulder. I do believe now is the time that I should thank Nautica for making my glasses have such a strong frame. My glasses have taken much abuse themselves over the last 3 (almost 4?) years and yet they are still intact. Thank you.

I have a weird desire to watch “Camp Rock” right now for some reason. I know that I said that I am a fan of the Jonas Brothers (I’m also a fan of the rest of the cast too; Demi Lovato is amazing!) but the desire to watch “Camp Rock” is just weird. Ok, not that the movie is weird I’ve just always watched it as a random “Hey! There it is! I’m going to watch it!”So, I do believe I’m going to go take a shower and watch it in my room.

Tomorrow is Sunday. I have a weird desire to go to church.

(10pm note: FINE! I just ate three slices of meat lover’s pizza and two small slices of cake that I got sent home with and a can of diet soda. I fail but the food tasted so good!)

YAY! RACHAEL AND MIRAI WON!!!!! WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

January 22nd

Breakfast
*Apple
Mid-Day
*2 cups of hospital hot chocolate
*4 radishes
*2 pieces Garlic Texas Toast
*2 cans diet soda
*2 pieces Trident gum
Dinner
*2 pieces of Garlic Texas Toast
*Carrot
*pinch of Spinach
*can of diet soda

Didn’t really do much today other than go with mom to her radiation treatment that didn’t take long and the puzzle in the waiting room was decent.

I admit I spent the rest of the day playing “Animal Crossing”. Tomorrow, my dad is picking me up at 3:30pm to go to his place for a birthday party that is at 4:30pm. On Sunday I’m planning on going to church and then on Monday I’m planning on spending the day at the library filling out online apps because that’s when Starbucks’ online app goes live.

TMI random observation of the day: I noticed that my pee was actually regular yellow today.
What is there to talk about? Not much of anything. The only thing I can really think of to say is that I like making the animals on “Animal Crossing” say naughty things… but you don’t really need to know that. I also noticed that if I let myself be hungry it’s harder to control my anger than if I eat something. That’s why when you see several things under “Mid-Day” and “Throughout the day” it’s not all being consumed at the same time but as I go and feel hungry.

Let’s see what else I can tell you about myself. I’m a fan of music! I love to sing although for me to sing in front of people I have to be in a big group of people (a choir), bribed EXTREMELLY well, or intoxicated. I’m working on that… the stage fright not getting intoxicated. I have a few songs on my MySpace page (myspace.com/angelinaariola) of me singing. My favorite song to sing is “Amazing Grace” because it’s my safety blanket as far as songs to sing go. It’s not hard to tell when you meet me that I’m a Jonas Brothers fan however I also really like Crash Kings (myspace.com/crashkings and twitter.com/crashkings), a great up and coming band that I hope is able to go huge soon so they can get a tour bus and not have to get leg cramps when they travel. ;) If you get a chance to see their show I highly recommend you do so; I’ve seen them twice and they still haven’t put me on a restricted list so I take that as a good sign I can keep going.

It was funny to me…

Since it is Friday I’m going to do a Follow Friday for blogs I like to follow. This week’s is christablack.blogspot.com. It’s run by Christa Black, a very inspirational musician who wants young ladies and woman in general to overcome their pasts to be stronger and so they can forgive and move on. She traveled with the Jonas Brothers as one of the two beautiful string section players on their recent world tour during which she began her blog of which she has been inspired to write a book. An amazing read I recommend starting from the beginning…when you have ample amount of time and Kleenex.

That’s it for now. Birthday party tomorrow…ooo that means Kory might be there. Hmmm…maybe this time I won’t be shy around him? We will see. I don’t know why but he is rather intimidating to me and yet he is seriously so nice.

Off to watch Hope for Haiti Now.

In case you are wondering who you are reading here you go:

January 21st

Breakfast
*Scrambled eggs (3 eggs, cheese, French vanilla creamer, onion flakes, paprika, pepper, and garlic powder)
*apple
Throughout the day
*Ham and cheese sandwich
*2 sugar free Smuckers grape jelly thingies
*Ramen noodles
*Boca burger
*4 pieces Trident gum

I filled out applications and walked a lot… in new shoes. I’m going to have some lovely blisters…yippee.

Yes, I ate a ham and cheese sandwich. I was hungry and it was either eat it or throw it away. I didn’t like it if it makes you happy. It didn’t make me happy. It was pretty weird. Hospital food=weird.

Speaking of hospitals, tomorrow I’m going with my mom to her radiation treatment. She has them every morning at 7:48am for the next 4 weeks (she is finishing week one this week; she is currently in the external radiation phase) however tomorrow is a rare day; the treatment is going to be at 2pm instead of in the morning.

Quote of the day: “McDreamy is being a McAss.” –Meredith Grey

January 20th

Breakfast
*2 pieces Trident gum
Lunch
*Apple
*Orange
*Venti Passion Iced Tea w/2 Equals
Dinner
*Boca Burger
*Salad w/Ranch, tomato, and cucumber
*4 pieces Garlic Texas Toast
*2 glasses of milk

I got up about 11:30am; missed Regis and Kelly-sad times. Mom knocked on my door and told me her boyfriend, Jeff (affectionately nicknamed “Jeffy Poo” by me because his sweetness towards us is cute but kind of makes me want to gag), would be coming over at two so she asked me to clean a bit. She’s my mother so you’d think she’d know that me remembering what I was told when I’m woken up mid-dream is a miracle because I tend to think I dreamed it. So kudos to me for remembering it wasn’t a dream.

For exercise: Gaarde kicked my butt a bit but I pressed on! Gaarde is basically 4 hills- 3 going up and 1 coming back- and I go from Pacific Hwy to 121st’s stop light. I went up and back once and took like 25 minuets to do it. My goal for next time is twice in 45 minuets.
We went to Granny and Grandpa’s again. So hard to say “no” to jerky! I love it so much! Granny had my back, though, and gave me an orange. I think when Grandpa makes his jerky I’m going to have to break down and have some because his is THAT good!

January 19th 2010

Weight: 256.6

Breakfast:
  • Glass of milk
  • Apple

Snack

  • Orange

Dinner

  • Boca burger
  • water
  • 4 Radishes

Exercise: Pleading the fifth

6am my fat ass. More like 10:30. So...no real exercise today. Tigard has been spared of my early morning wrath...for now. Basically today I woke up, took a shower, got dressed, packed for the library and have been sitting here since...hmm...12? It's now 3:42. (Thank you Tigard Library for providing free WiFi.)

I'm really hungry right now. The thought of walking up to McDonald's right now is so tempting however this little thing called "I need money to buy more stuff" is in the way. I need to really force myself to sit on what funds I have left which doing as a sterotypical female is hard enough already but is even harder when that female has worked in a mall for almost 3 years and now suddenly has to break herself of the almost-instant gratification accessability she found having all her favorite stores under one roof. Even the dollar menu seems kind of pricey now. Sad times.

When I mentioned to my mom and my grandparents that I was going to try out being a vegitarian the look on my grandpa's face held more shock than that of baseball fans' when the Yankees won. (Pick any of those occasions because they are so few they are amazing.) I thought my dad was going to have an emotional breakdown when I ordered a Garden Burger on his birthday but Grandpa had me almost worried he'd have a heartattack. ...ok mabye he wasn't that shocked but, still, you get the point. Coming from two families of pretty consistant red meat eaters who load up on the starch, calories, and cholesterol this feat of vegitarianism is not going to be easy. I had to agree to modify it so that I'd eat chicken and fish (the fish was easy enough and though I do like chicken I was hoping to avoid it...which I will because I never said how often I'd eat it) so I could stop the impending onslaught of questions about where I'll get protein (nuts) and other questions I wasn't prepared to answer because I had JUST decided to start this task that would no doubt be considered a miricale if pulled off for more than a week.

In case you are a random pass-by of a person here's some information about me:

Name: Angelina Ariola

Age: 21

Where: Tigard, Oregon

Why I'm doing this: I guess I like to torture myself to within an inch of my sanity. Or because I need to lose weight; take your pick. I think that I think makng my diet/ life change out there and public might help keep me accountable and help me "stick to it" because if other people know what I'm doing then I will feel the "I don't want any confrontation" feeling I always get when I know someone is about to ask me if I'm in school and then the inevitable "why not?"

What else is there to know? Let's see...

My mom is currently starting radiation treatments (finally) to get rid of her stage one endrometrial cancer. We're too much alike sometimes that we clash. That, of course, makes it a joy to live with each other. I love her very much but I really need to make one of my goals "save enough money so I can move out" because we do much better when not together.

My dad is really old. Ok, he's only 62 but when you ask him how he is he'll say something like, "older and uglier than dirt" so, in my defence, he has given me permission thoughout my life to call him really old because that is how he has described himself. Plus, I think it makes mentioning that for his 61st birthday I got him a package of Depends a little bit funnier. I give it another year before he opens them.

No cats/dogs/boyfriends/girlfriends to speak of. Yippee.

Alright. Time to get up off this thang and do something productive. Again: yippee.

January 18th 2010

Weight: 256.6

Breakfast:
  • 3 Sourdough flapjacks with the butter and the maple syrup
  • small glass of milk

Movie Theater

  • Large Diet Coke
  • Medium Popcorn with the butter

Dinner

  • Orange
  • 1 fried chicken breast with the skin on it
  • 6 fries
  • can of diet coke
  • glass of water

Exercise: lots of walking

Basically this is my day before "day one" of starting a mostly Vegitarian diet. I'm going to allow myself to eat chicken breasts (boneless-skinless) and fish as well as animal bi-products. I'm also going to have this serve as both a life and food journal/blog.

I just did something I'm rather uncomfortable with. Even through my mom is asleep in her room and she is the only person other than me who lives here I cringed my way downstairs to weigh myself...in the nude. I HATE walking anywhere in the nude! I won't even walk form the bathroom to my room (a grand total of 5 steps) in the buff when I'm home alone. I swear I feel every jiggle and shake intensify with every step. It makes me amazed there isn't actually that earthquake the stupid middle school boys always teased was coming from me doesn't actually happen.

Sso what happened today...

I woke up way too early, went to Downtown Portland to have an interview at Portland Swimwear (btw: I'm unemployed as of the 6th because I got laid off after the place I'd been working at for almost 3 years closed), had breakfast at a tiny cafe called Morning Star Cafe on 5th Ave, walked around, went to Clackamas Town Center, walked around, saw "Sherlock Holmes", got on the MAX, got creeped out by a creeper, went to Albertson's to get a bunch of veggies and fruit, went to Granny and Grandpa's with my mom and then we went home.

First plan for tommorow: Wake up at 6am.

God save Tigard. Oy Vey.
